Fall paint color trends are all about comfort and nostalgia this year. Classic autumnal hues are trending, as are more nuanced shades that embrace rich colors in more muted and sophisticated ways. This fall’s color trends speak to the desire to disconnect from outside distractions and craft a home that nurtures well-being, celebrates nostalgia, and offers a modern interpretation of timeless design.

1. Classic Comforting Hues

"As we into Fall 2025 and look toward 2026, we’re seeing a continued embrace of classic autumnal hues—rich, comforting colors that speak to the ongoing desire for warmth and familiarity in our spaces," says Emily Kantz, color marketing manager at Sherwin-Williams. Some of the expert's favorite picks to create a warm and inviting autumnal environment include a deep terracotta orange hue named Pennywise, a luxurious brown with subtle red undertones called Rojo Marrón, and Sanderling, a mid-tone warm neutral that has a woodsy, nature-inspired feel.

2. Restorative Blues and Greens

As paint color trends continue to reflect a growing emphasis on wellness, mindful living, and a deeper connection to the natural world, Kim says homeowners are gravitating towards shades of blue and green. According to the expert, people are embracing color palettes that feel nurturing, timeless, and restorative, choosing soft greens like Sprig of Sage or Warm Eucalyptus. "Blues and greens draw inspiration from nature’s organic beauty, pairing seamlessly with natural materials like wood, stone, and woven textures to create spaces that feel grounded yet elevated," Kim says.

3. Warm, Nature-Inspired Tones

Warm nature-inspired tones are the ultimate way to inject a big dose of coziness into your home this fall season. Interior designer and BEHR ammbassador Sabrina Soto shares some of her favorite picks, which include clay, olive, terracotta, taupe, marigold, currant, and teal shades. "I'm completely in love with these shades that feel like you literally grabbed them from nature—think cozy mountain cabin meets that perfect farmers market find," Soto says.

She loves Amber Brew, a comforting gold tone whose nostalgic sun-baked undertones make it perfect for gathering spaces like kitchens and dining rooms. Back to Nature, a deep and earthy olive green, also makes Soto's fall 2025 list and looks great with warm woods and brass according to the designer. And if you're looking for the perfect terracotta shade, you can't go wrong with Terra Cotta Urn, a red-orange with hints of cinnamon which Soto recommends balancing with creamy whites.

4. Grounded, Sophisticated Reds

This fall, reds are getting a sophisticated update with rich, earthy tones such as Dark Auburn and Reddened Earth gaining momentum. "These deep burgundies and terracotta-inspired hues add warmth and personal expression without overwhelming a space," says Ashley Banbury, color marketing manager at HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams. When paired with neutrals, these muted and grounded reds feel both modern and enduring.
